Hennessy Carnival 60

The Idea

We’re living in an era where a ‘deeper’ music experience is becoming more and more valuable.

From audiences’ actively choosing to listen on vinyl, knowing your deep cuts and archives or seeking out the new and next listening bars.

So as a brand with an iconic music legacy, who better placed to celebrate Notting Hill Carnival music history?

Enter Hennessy Carnival 60: An archive of 60 years of carnival sounds curated by carnival legends.

Giving consumers the chance to dig through the ‘record archives’ that have influenced notting hill carnival, online and offline.

The 60 records were handpicked by the celebration’s Chief Executive Matthew Phillip, Rhythm Section and Jumbi founder Bradley Zero, and Mercury Prize-nominated producer and artist Nia Archives.

Their selections trace the sounds of Notting Hill Carnival across six decades - from reggae, calypso and soca to jungle, UK garage and grime. The full collection is also available to stream on Spotify, giving the archive a digital counterpart to the vinyl collection housed at Jumbi. Check it out below!
